Sports and Activities

Although music lies at the heart of the school, for many, sport is equally a passion and for those for whom this is true, we make a point of ensuring that they can play to a high level.

We offer a wide range of sport with sessions each week dedicated to football in the Michaelmas term, hockey in the Lent term, and cricket in the summer term.  We make full use of local all-weather facilities at St Andrews and Archbishop’s Park.  Inter-school matches at U11 and U13 age ranges are a great feature of school life and are fiercely competed.  Being in a small school, everyone who wishes can play in a team.

During the summer term we run outdoor activities with all boys having the opportunity to participate in climbing, kayaking and paddle-boarding.

But for those who are keen there is more besides.  We play basketball, badminton and table tennis and we have access to a wide range of sporting facilities at Archbishop’s Park including the astroturf all year round and the cricket nets and tennis courts in the summer.

Choristers tend to be busy people but the house staff ensure that they have plenty of down-time too. At the end of each day, activities are available to allow the boys to let off steam, or they can just relax in the library, chill out zone or Form V common room.

We have a well-equipped games room with table tennis and board games.  Lego, puzzles and drawing equipment is all available to boys too. We also have a train room with a large Hornby trainset with full model railway, together with all the normal school facilities.

On Wednesday we run an extensive activities programme before Games, so once again there is always something for every taste.  Activities recently have included; debating, outdoor adventures, sewing, basket weaving, marquetry, Airfix models, comic book creation, sewing and so much more.

On days when the boys don’t sing Evensong (normally Wednesdays and alternate Mondays) we run an extensive activities programme, so once again there is always something for every taste.
